A Super Geeky Lesson on MOMENTUM!

SO EXCITED TO SHARE THIS with you, friends!!

When this connection came to me, it blew up my world (in a VERY good way!), so I want to share this in case it’s a big help to you.

I’ve literally never heard anyone use actual laws - and look at the SCIENCE behind our lives - in this way. While I do like to geek out in some ways, sharing this with you is a bit (OK, very much!) outside of my comfort zone. But aw well. Hopefully it makes sense!

SUPER-(S)HEROES in Training (who don’t feel at all like “super” right now… If you feel like science isn’t your thing… If you feel overwhelmed now and don’t want too much info… I invite you to SKIP forward to “So why does all of this matter?” then circle back to the beginning if you’d like to.

So… MOMENTUM. Here goes!

There are two applicable laws to our journey. These are actual laws that are favoring us! (if we know how to work with them!)

#1 Newton’s First Law of Motion

Defined: (in my words) An object will either stay at rest or keep going in the same way unless an external force acts on the object.

Re-Defined to our journey: We as humans will either stay on the same ole path (stay stagnant!) unless we throw new energy and ideas into our everyday patterns.

What can this mean for us? If you’re in a rut, if you have certain habits, if you have certain patterns, they will NOT change by themselves. BUT! Making a change of any kind, especially with support, can be massively helpful.

Keys: Being OPEN to receiving support, jumping into (rather than resisting) change in the direction you desire, willingness to release old habits to form new ones, getting out of your comfort zone, breaking patterns in creative ways.

#2 Newton’s Second Law of Motion

Defined: (in my words) Multiply mass and force to measure acceleration. [Officially it’s usually defined more like the inverse of the equation: “The change of momentum is proportional to the force applied.”]

Re-Defined to our journey: Our wellness path can be multiplied by steps in our chosen direction to create massive (and nearly unstoppable!) movement in the direction we desire.

Keys: Defining the path, staying on it with regularity, making aligned choices across a broad spectrum of elements to wellness, focusing on the steps forward.

So, why does all of this matter?

MOMENTUM is the thing that is moving us forward in the direction we’re going. Wherever we are today is just a speck on the timeline. It (almost) doesn’t even matter just how sick or how well you are, as long as you have momentum going in the direction you prefer!

The biggest AHA I hope you take from this connection is just this… WE HAVE POWER IN OUR DAILY CHOICES! Every time we make a choice that’s in alignment with the kind of wellness we want to experience, we are building a force of potentially unstoppable momentum, in the direction that we desire!

And THAT is a very good thing.

But it’s not overnight! This is like a bank account balance, we are choosing to fill day after day after day after day after blessed DAY! All steps taken one at a time!

For me, this lets off the hook the perfectionist in me. Instead I see this truly as a journey, and the momentum building beautifully with my every choice!
